The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Narnia…the land beyond the wardrobe door, a secret place frozen in eternal winter, a magical country waiting to be set free.

Lucy is the first to find the secret of the wardrobe in the professor’s mysterious old house. At first her brothers and sister don’t believe her when she tells of her visit to the land of Narnia. But soon Edmund, then Peter and Susan step through the wardrobe themselves. In Narnia they find a country buried under the evil enchantment of the White Witch. When they meet the Lion Aslan, they realize they’ve been called to a great adventure and bravely join the battle to free Narnia from the Witch’s sinister spell.

Narnia is full of talking animals, magic, and the loathsome witch who turns animals into stone statues if they do not do as she pleases. With the help of a Beaver couple, they escape in time and get to meet Aslan, who teaches them true bravery, sacrifice and teamwork. I liked Lucy best because she is a curious, truthful and kindhearted girl whom I could relate to. This book taught me two important lessons; that looks can be deceiving and that two wrongs don’t make a right. The illustrations are precious and go perfectly with the story.reat messages, and unique style. Light but direct to the point, like all children stories should be. The lion, the witch and the wardrobe is a must for all the lovers of the genre.

Prince Caspian

NARNIA… the land between the lamp-post and the castle of Cair Paravel, where animals talk, where magical things happen… and where the adventure begins.

Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are returning to boarding school when they are summoned from the dreary train station (by Susan’s own magic horn) to return to the land of Narnia—the land where they had ruled as kings and queens and where their help is desperately needed.

The story has a slow start and isn’t as gripping as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but I was just glad to read a new Pevensie siblings adventure.A number of new characters were introduced, each having incredibly peculiar names that I loved but find hard to recollect now. I loved this story because I love Lucy and Aslan and Caspian, but there were a lot of side characters who I didn’t care much about and the villain in this book wasn’t so interesting. Some plot points did annoy me a bit—one of them being that the boys were sent to make battle plans and do the important stuff while the girls pranced around with Aslan. Given how old this book is,I chose to not let this affect how I rated this book. Prince Caspian was well written and a fast paced read! I enjoyed the siblings’ relationship. It’s also clear there were different personalities in this story. I like the ending because there was mentioned of a portal. I love portals to a parallel universe! All in All this book was an excellent read! I just loved how the story pulled me in. It helped that the characters were well liked and their adventures were exciting. I like Prince Caspian and his curiosities. The stories about the animals were fantastic. It boggled my mind that the time difference between Narnia and real life was so vast! It’s also interesting that different people came and took over in the centuries that passed.

  1. I grew up with the Chronicles of Narnia and thus a deep fear of Turkish Delight!
Same, Lucy is my favourite, she really is so compassionate and kind towards her siblings which I greatly admire. 😊

  2. Lovely review Krisha! I’ve read the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (my mom actually did it as a read-aloud for me and my little brother!) and we all really enjoyed it! I haven’t read Prince Caspian, but it does sound pretty interesting 🙂

  3. Book 1 is actually the Magician’s Nephew, btw. But if you’re talking about the order C. S. Lewis wrote in, then The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the first book.

(And sorry for being so detailed. I’m a bit of a Narnia fanatic 😂 But I love it to pieces when people decide to write reviews on Narnia the book, and yours is quite excellent 🥰)

  5. I really like this review, you did a great job! I am very late again, but its the White Witch or the Queen Jadis, right? (You don’t have to tell me someone else has already done it!)
Chronicles of Narnia is my childhood read too! I read it first about 4 years ago, I think! In these four years I have read sooo many times! It is a very good series. I thought you were going to review the first two books?
Your new header looks cool! However, you should minimize the size of your tagline in your new button!
Sorry for the extremely long comment!

    1. Thanks Sarah 😘 yes you are correct ✨ ahh that is great… Hi5….I read it when I was 9…3 years ago 😉 I did review the first two books….it depends on which order you read it in… publication order or chronological order….I reviewed it in the publication order…and these two books were published first and second respectively… chronological order is a little more confusing as everyone has their own opinion on the order you should read these books in….thank you soo much…and I will keep that in mind…thanks for your suggestion… actually I have not completed my final design…but since everyone was messaging me to open my blog…I opened it but I am not with the entire design…and no worries ☺️ I loved your comment
